The Wifi Inspector included with Avast Internet Security asks whether networks that it scans are “Home networks” or “Public networks”. What is the difference between these two options? Does Avast carry out a different suite of tests for each?
Hi
It’s my understanding that the rules would probably be more strict on Public Wifi compared to Private behind your Router which I presume would be password protected so others could not enter/jump your wifi connection/sessions.
There may be other users with a more technical explanation.
for example, for my own network , the wifi inspector detects the vulnerability “CVE-2017-14491” if you choose “home” but does not detect it if you choose “public”, regardless of the actual firewall setting.
precisely about this vulnerability, could anyone say why the avast post that was talking about it has disappeared?
