I have been having problems with this “Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]” thingy lately before 5 days as many other poeple did, Its supposed to be false positive as I checked the forum, but I have few questions.
Why does it “effect” different files, as I was reading that all people had it related to some different file.
Is it totaly DEFINETLY false positive if VirusTotal found 0 threats? Or should there be any other steps to take to be clear its false positive?
The file is not new I have been using it for a while, never had any problem with it.
Also as you said “It is a on access detection only and will not show in any scan” I guess that mean it wont show much in www.virustotal.com
Should I send the file to the lab thingy?
Also I have seen couple of posts people having same problem few days ago about the same issue, but with different files. but same evo gen thingy. Has this thing been fixed in recent antivirus update?
it will not show in any VT scan …or computer scan, detection happens when file is accessed/run
yes, you may report it to the Lab thingy … then they will remove the detection thingy
Also I have seen couple of posts people having same problem few days ago about the same issue, but with different files. but same evo gen thingy. Has this thing been fixed in recent antivirus update?
as said it is a detection for suspicious file(s) so of course not the same file(s) at evry detection
you may see something suspicious in town one day .... two weeks later you see something suspicious again, but maybe not the same issue
it is a detection that try to catch new an unknow malware
Thnaks for your help and information, Im just going to do that. Should I not be worried if the Lab find anything?
I also did the virustotal.com scan and it seems clean 0/54, also I put back to see if the same warning will come up and this time It is fine without any warning, do you know if this issue has been already fixed by the latest update?
Ok thanks, one more thing, if I send it to this lab how will I know its false positive, will they send me email or somrthing? And how long it take usually to get answer?
Hi, I am new to all this so please tell me if I am not following protocol/etiquette as I am not very PC literate.
Re:Win32 Evo gen [Sus], I received a notification that a file had been placed in virus chest last night 22 Dec 2014. It is extremely annoying with messages saying report to Microsoft & Application manager & DeviceManager.exe has to close & Fatal Error! every couple of minutes.
I loaded Samsung Kies to use with friend’s mobile long ago, but never did use it & now I see Avast removed Win32 Evo gen [Susp] from this location & put it in virus chest, whhereafter I ran a full scan & it didn’t find anything, but messages still persist. How do I fix this please? Do I delete the file from my virus chest & uninstall Samsung Kies?
I recently had my old Fujitsu Siemens laptop debugged & they ended up loading original Windows XP SP2 (32bit) as Windows 7 had conflicts with some programs. Will try attach screenshots to help you
Thanks, & a peaceful joyous Cristmas/festive season to all of you.
