sorry i’m really ocd about this and im sure nothing is wrong. When i was installing the spybot search and destroy set up i clicked on the avast setup to check what it was. Everything is ok right?
i don’t have to reinstall anything do i?
Simply scanning a file avast.setup (does the avast updates) with S&D shouldn’t cause any issues and I would imagine that S&D didn’t find anything ?
The avast self-defence module should protect it anyway if S&D were to try and remove it, I presume that the avast.setup file still exists ?
Try a manual update of avast if it works, basically that confirms the avast.setup is working.
Try to curtail your curiosity, it killed the cat you know ;D
i meant i clicked on the file that is used to setup avast after you download it.
i deleted the file downloaded to install avast because i thought it was ok. It wasn’t called avast.setup it was called like setupeng or something i think.
yeah the file i clicked on while installing spybot was called setupeng.
avast.setup is a temporary file used by avast to update itself.
setupeng.exe is the setup (installation) file to install avast in your computer.
Clicking (double clicking on it yes) on it wouldn’t necessarily launch an installation, you would have had some form of pop-up, etc. probably stating you already had avast installed do you wish to continue, etc. ?
Even if it did reinstall avast it would be an over install and that theoretically might give an older version (but I feel that would have been detected and a notice displayed), but you could do a manual program update which would rectify that.
