From what I see in avast 5 program files folders it’s not the case. Only admins and system have full control, while users have only read and execute access. can’t tell about Avast 4 I never checked

You read the vendor’s comment for an end of lifetime product.
Anyway one is ill advised to use a Windows platform with full user rights for online activities other than downloads/patches. 97% of malicious software is known to do none or considerable less harm if it does not have access to the system to run, and using normal user rights does that.
Furthermore the question is theoretical as physical access to computers means it is compromised anyway,

So you mean I should put a Password on this account, make a new (limited) one and use that as my main? And only use this one( Admin) for patches and downloads( like microsoft update and what not)
Will I still be able to get program updates (like for avast,mbam,outpost firewall) and be able to play games without any problems?

exactly you got it what sir polonus was trying to convey. if you follow what sir pol said, then i can surely tell you that you wont get infected. but that doesnt mean you shouldn’t update your av or something foolishness like that.
yes you can get those updates but I use administrator rights when updating…
