Question

First off, hi everyone.

I am aware that this may seem like a stupid question but I am going to ask it anyway since I am totally clueless when it comes to these things and can not find a clear answer(to me).

I misspelled the youtube site and went to ‘‘www.youttube.com’’ when I arrived at the website I got a message from Avast stating it blocked 2 trojan horses.
Now I can see there are 2 infected pages in the Realtime Shield(Web Shield).

My question is: Do I have to take any actions or anything? Or is my laptop safe as it is now?

Thanks for the help in advance and I apoligise for the ‘‘stupid’’ question.

You can run a full scanning with avast.
But you can relax, avast did the job before any file hit your disk and block then with Web Shield.
There isn’t any stupid question.
Welcome to forums

I’ll do a full scan first thing tomorrow.

So there isn’t any danger of my laptop being harmed since the Web Shield blocked it?

Thanks for the welcome:).

In theory, Web Shield blocks the infection of the http traffic (Internet) before any file is even saved in your disk.
Clean your temporary files and run a full scan for peace of mind

Aah okee, so if I just use CCleaner and do a full scan with Avast all should be fine if I understand correctly?

P.S.
Thanks for the help and for bearing with me:).

Exactly.

If you want to learn and dig more, I suggest:

  1. Clean your temporary files.
  2. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
  3. Use Comodo Cleaning Essentials (CCE), or MBAM, or SUPERantispyware to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, it is better and safer to send the infected file(s) to quarantine (Chest), rather than simply deleting them.
  4. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
  5. Read this instructions and provide more info with the logs generated.
  6. Clean your Hosts file (replacing it) with HostsMan tool.
  7. Disable System Restore and then reenable it again.
  8. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster.
  9. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.

If the infection avoids booting the computer, take a look here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=79107.0
