Every so often, I get a notice from Avast that it has identified a search engine that has a bad rep with users (I use Ixquick). Well, I have had Avast tell me of one or two pages that were not safe, and blocked it. That’s great. But I want to stop that particular notification if I can. I don’t need Avast telling me every other day about the search engine. Ixquick does NOT track me. That’s why I use it.
Next question: I get notices every so often that there are programs and processes that are slowing my computer down. But I would like to know what they are before I decide to have Avast delete or fix them. I’ve not seen that information available. There may be a few of those that I use. How can I find out what they are?

Bad Reputation could really mean, it isn’t widely used - I used it a very long time ago - since you use it and are happy, you can ignore that.
Personally I don’t like clean-up apps/programs, especially any auto functioning ones. I don’t use the browser clean-up function in avast as I’m happy keeping it clean myself. I also don’t like clean-up/optimization apps/programs so I didn’t install the avast cleanup function either.
In fact generally I only install the shield elements in avast.
I personally agree with DavidR.
I think it sounds like “Clean Up” which is a module you can avoid installing via custom install as shown in DavidR’s screenshot
or you can remove if you want to end these notifications
Change, add, or remove individual program components

To me it sounds like the BCU and not CleanUp.
I didn’t say it was anything other than Browser Cleanup - but the OP also mentioned other areas as in:

That certainly is Avast Cleanup (former GrimeFighter) at work. And why I mentioned I don’t have that installed Cleanup.
