Quick launch DOS shortcuts stopped working

Last night I clicked on a quick launch icon that was supposed to open a DOS command window. I got a pop-up warning that I thought I had read completely, but apparently I didn’t. I clicked the “Yes” button in the warning box, and ever since then whenever I click on that icon, I get the following warning message:

“Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.”

I immediately tried shutting off Avast’s real time protection, and was then able to click on that icon, and open a DOS window. When I restarted real time protection, it went back to tossing the warning.

I now realize that by clicking that “Yes” button caused Avast to block that process from running. My question is, how do I now reverse that? I tried looking for a black list, but none exists. Do I need to edit a config file to remove that process from being blocked?

What do I do?

I figured it out! I needed to reboot the machine. After doing that, I tried clicking the icon and the same Avast! pop-up warning appeared. This time, I read it carefully, and saw that I needed to use the drop-down menu to select the action I wanted the program to take.

I read through the documentation for ver. 7, but did not see anything about this. Did I miss something somewhere?

Anyway, here’s the answer in case it happens to someone else.
