A problem has begun where whenever the Quick scan starts, such as at the end of a download, or ust using it on-demand for a certain file, a windows installer starts; the sort you get when information is missing from an application and requires to fix it with the CD or .cab files.
It happens without fail every time I scan. anyone got any info on this, or had the same problem?
Something has messed the programs (or one program specifically) into the windows registry.
Which is the missed application name?
Thanks for the reply. It’s trying to re-install Office XP, but the programme itself (Word, Excel, etc) has no problems either starting or running.
But is it Office CD which is asked to be inserted?
It’s an odd one, it doesn’t ask for the CD (I have the installation files on a partition for easy access). It claims that a file ‘BLANK.ELM’ is absent from the .CAB files.
The thing is I can just stop it and everything is still okay. It’s pretty annoying though.

Just off the top of my head it sounds like you’ve got a corrupted file in your MS FrontPage Theme-Pack.
Might want to head over to Microsoft’s site and scoot around looking into problems related to FrontPage.
I might have some info on my other unit, but it’ll be a bit before I can access that. Doing a scan on that one right now.

Well, I rummaged through my troubleshooting files on the other unit, but I couldn’t find what I wanted. I have this nagging memory from a bit back about something related to FrontPage but I can’t drag it from my deep, deep memory.
That is, except for the fact that a whole bunch of folks don’t like the FrontPage utility.
So, did you figure out the problem?

If you’re right about the name of the faulty installer, remove the program using http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.shtml
Without that entry, you can install the software again or the message won’t popup anymore. At least, this worked for me when I had problems with QuickTime installation in the past.
