Quicken being blocked by Avast

Newbie here with a fresh install of Avast Internet Security. I’m using it with Quicken Premier 2010.

A couple of my accounts in Quicken require that I connect through “web connect.” They previously worked fine, but after installing Avast they are not working. It appears Avast is blocking something within Quicken from connecting via the Internet.

Can anyone tell me how to modify Avast’s settings to allow Quicken’s “web connect” to function properly?

Thanks!

While this was being posted, I think I figured it out on my own. Here’s what I did, which may have the same effect as the instructions above.

  1. Open Avast
  2. Click Firewall tab on left side of window.
  3. Under Firewall, click Application Rules
  4. Scroll down and look for Inuit, Inc.
  5. You’ll see “packet rules” in the lower right part of the “Quicken launcher.” Click “packet rules.”
  6. Be sure “Internet Out” is enabled. Be sure the action for “Internet Out” is set to “Allow”
  7. In the lower left corner, click “add.” A line for a new rule will be highlighted.
  8. Be sure the new rule is enabled. Name the rule “Internet In.” Set the action to “Allow.” Set the protocol to “TCP/UDP.” Set the direction to “In.”
  9. Move the new “Internet In” rule up so that it’s the second in the list; right below “Internet Out.” Click “OK”

After taking these steps, I tried doing a data download in Quicken, and it appeared to work.

So, there may be two solutions to the problem. Thanks for the info, Asyn!
