Quicktime Pro questions for Mac ...

… or anyone else who knows.

I would like to make a slideshow with .jpg and .mov files. Can I mix these files in QT Pro so the effect will be a seres of still images with video interspersed?

Having made the slideshow will I be able to export it to a DVD format that will play on a standard DVD player?

Or, looking at it a different way, what program will let me do this? I’m finding the .mov format is not supported in many programs (like Pinnacle).

Creating a Slideshow is here:

But that only addresses jpg’s. Can I put .mov files in too? And what are the output options?

The web site doesn’t have anything on this. Neither does the user guide.

Output to H.264, MPEG, AVI, and I think Windows Media is supported on the windows version as well

I would assume you can put any QT supported movie in the slideshow as well but I will try it when I get home for you to make sure Give me about 2 hours and Ill post back confirming this

Thanks.

Will you also check to see if .vob and .ifo are output options for standard DVD playback?

Screenshot with export options (windows version will look very similar)

next im going to try to make the slideshow with movies

Usually Apple’s iDVD software is used to convert to DVD format

The Slideshow only works with images, Sorry :-[ :cry:

If you would like you Can PM me and ill be glad to convert your QT files to another format for you to keep you from having to buy QTPro to convert them.

The only program I know that will do all you asked for and more is called Pro Show Producer.
Unfortunately it also comes with a healthy price tag.

@Mac

Thanks for the kind offer. You might remember I bothered you about this months ago so I guess its just time to buy my own copy. I keep hoping to avoid the file conversion since every program I’ve tried reduces the quality of the video but, alas, it seems I have no choice. Hopefully QT Pro will be better than the others … :slight_smile:

@Bob

Yikes ! :o ;D

There are lots of options for exporting files. Here is a sample of me setting up export for my iPod as you can see there is a ton of options

Once again the windows version will be slightly different, but the interface is largely the same (just like iTunes/Safari)

Get the Quick time 7.2 (everything applies to the current 7.5.x releases) manual here:
http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/quicktime/

it has details on how to export files
