Raid Errors with build 1074

Hi

I posted this yesterday in ‘Latest update slowed down Vista 32x’ but Igor asked me to start a new thread so here goes. I to am having issues since I updated Avast. My raid controller gives constant critical error messages for both drives in my array with standard shield enabled. When I pause standard shield, no more issues. I am running Vista Ultimate 32bit on an AMD Opty 180, Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe Mb, 2GB Crucial Ballistix Ram and two 500GB Western Digital Caviar SE16 drives on the Nvidia Raid controller as a striped array. This problem only occured with build 1074 of Avast.
The error message is:
‘Raid Access Failure
Access failure: Critical error on disk WDC WD5000AAKS-00YGA0 (Port: SATA 1.0).’
and also the same message for port 1.1. Unfortunately thats is all the detail I have.

Dave

Are you saying that if you uninstall avast the errors go away?
Which other security programs are you using?

No I don’t need to uninstall Avast to remove the errors, just pause the Standard Shield on-access scanner. I don’t use any other security programs other than Vista’s own. If I roll back to the previous build I have no more errors.

Sorry, can’t help you further.
I hope the programmers take a look in this ‘bug’.

Tried as you suggested in the linked post, made no difference to my RAID issue. Though when I copied the file into my system32 folder there was no original version to overwrite.

I’m sorry, the path was wrong in Vlk’s post; it should be \Windows\System32\drivers

Moved file to drivers folder and rebooted, unfortunately still no difference with my issue.

Should I try a memory dump when this error occurs? I’m not sure if I can catch the moment but I’m willing to give it a go.
