I use Avast Free 2015.10.2.2218 and Windows Xp Pro 5.1.2600 Sp3.
My trouble is that frequently (three, four times in a day …) when I try to launch an executable … it happens nothing. Two hours, let’s say, after the it works again. The phenomenon appears randomly (surely, it looks me that way because I don’t understand it …) and I am not capable to replicate it in order to detect its origin. As example, I have just downloaded Firefox Portable and it’s impossible to run it, even after having disabled Avast’s protections.
The file association for exe file is “%1” %* .
Can you, please, provide any hints to trace the causes ? Can Avast be involved ?
I’m not sure what It is important that you stay in your own thread. Do not start a new topic means: should I attach the logs here ? Will my logs publicly disclosed ? They contain informations about the software I use and their possible patches, if any …
They have to be available in order for a malware removal specialist to view/access them to be able to suggest actions. Having them in the topic makes doing that much easier.
I don’t believe an attack could be mounted on an individual as much more would be required on what IP address, etc. etc. Don’t forget that is also why you have an antivirus, firewall, etc. etc.
You can remove attached loges after the analysis has been made and fixes sorted.
Normally any possible virus infection is dealt with in the Viruses and Worms forum, it keeps things tidy. That said you would have to give your preamble again in any new topic to give the background on why you are seeking assistance.
Personally I would leave it all here and we can try to have it moved to the Viruses and Worms forum.
