Random freezes and lockup (avast! 5 Free)

Hi guys,
I regret saying this, but I’m disappointed with the new version of avast!. Although it’s outstanding in UI, it hangs up, freezes, etc. my laptop (Vista Home Basic SP2). I thought it may had been a problem of Comodo Internet Security (I use avast! + CIS (firewall, Defense+) + MBAM resident mode), but it wasn’t.
The problems are worse if I install the Behavior Shield. If I do so, the system will hang up at any moment.

:o >:(

Hi,

There are countless other threads about this, and in many cases uninstalling the Behaviour Shield “solves” the problem.

However, Avast’s developers are being way too quiet about this. One can only hope that they are busy trying to fix the problems.

Hint to Alwil. Never release a product while beta testers are still reporting major problems in the latest beta builds.

Damn lol to that. I had read previous topics about that Behavior Shield, that’s why I uninstalled it.
But seeing that my computer locked up EVEN if I tried to send it to hibernation mode, I decided to roll back to 4.8.
Alwil Software, please fix these problems once and for all! xD (and do tell us what the problem was ;D)

Think I just got one of these. Went away for 5 minutes and came back and PC had totally frozen (no event logs). Had to power off then on.

To troubleshoot: I’ve disabled the Behaviour shield and if that doesn’t help, I’ll uninstall it. Then see.

For heaven’s sake, uninstall it. Last time a!5 locked up my laptop, almost ran out of battery charge and it was almost burning (hot hot hot). :@

I had the same issue. It happened on the Beta and I made the wrong assumption that Alwil would have solved this before they released it as other than a beta. Wrong I guess.

I have switched back to 4.8 and I won’t be back trying 5 until there is some indication that this issue has been solved.

I use XP, Comodo Internet Security, MBAM resident mode and Superantispyware resident mode.

Cheers

Vaelor

Have you tried 5.0.396 at the top of the page? Seems to solve this problem for most, and Avast! would like comments from those for whom it doesn’t.
