It seems there are many NEW members of Download.com giving Avast a bad rating. Many are new as in posting the bad info the same day they joined. These are obviously bogus accounts done in an effort to lower the rating of Avast. Why would people do this? Anyhow, I have posted on a few of them my experiences with the Avast product and hopefully some of the other Avast users here will do the same. I hate to see a product get a bad rap when it’s a good product. Some of the posts even go on to say Avast doesn’t work on XP, Vista and or Win 7… Why would somebody take the time to build an account on Download.com to do this? Surely it’s the work of another AV products group? Just thought I’d say.
I figured that part out but why would they do this in the first place. Obviously they have not used the product. I wouldn’t post my thoughts or opinions on a product I didn’t try.
The ratings and opinions at Download.com are not worth wasting your bandwidth on, they never have been and never will be. Let them get on with it , life is too short to worry about dross like that.
One of the avg fanboys did the same thing in avast! antivirus facebook page. started posting about avg etc - you can see in a few comments. Scroll down.
I always ‘rate’ a product by looking through its user forum, get an idea if there appears to be unresolved product problems or simply usage questions…this forum seems to be the later, people just needing help on using avast rather than it not serving its purpose.
Just an observation but I have seen it mentioned before by one of the good mods that "only a small portion of Avast users post in the forum about user issues" and most all about problems BUT all the majority of folks with no problems never post(or most)…so…I would be cautious judging a security program by whats being posted in a forum…just cautious
I’m just saying 8)
agreed, I just don’t like people posting about a product and giving it bad reviews when I know for a fact they are lying. Doing it just to drop ratings. I’ve had absolutely NO problems with Avast but people post lies such as didn’t work on my XP computer, Vista computer or Win 7 computer. What’s the odds of that happening? ZERO! I have been intrigued by a product and tried it with a few minor issues but a new version has been released. Truly the only product that I’d love to try as much as Avast is Comodo Internet Security. I would never give a product a bad rating if I haven’t used it. I have not switched to the Comodo yet because the Avast has worked so well.
The only rating I go by,is how well it works on my 3 PC’s.It works well on all of them.Sure I have had problems but they were all because the guy behind the key board wasn’t very smart
I posted here, and all my problems were solved. Not by some tecky nerd in a back room but by average user who knew more than I did.As for knocking other AV’s I have tried some that should be put down but what’s the point,(dont use or recomend them).
Stay with the proven, and the forum that can really help.Just take the bad mouthing with a grain of salt.Stay with what works AVAST.
I agree…and in my experience and opinion a software program…especially security software… is only as good as the program support team…if there even is one?? Some of the security software I have tried and used over the years has had excellent support with relatively quick response and some with little to no response to issues…what good is that piece of software???
I’m not going to point any fingers but to the ‘bad’ ones but I will say the Avast products have very good support and the Forum for the most part is one of the best I frequent.
The unfortunate thing about poor software programs and bad support is that there is very little one can do however if enough buyers and users are experiencing very poor support it can come back and kick the developersa(company)in the ass…one example could be DCS??
Anyway, it is buyer beware out there as I know from experience and its not like you can go knocking on their door!!
