Rcpnetp Detected as a Virus

Everytime I boot my Toshiba x205 laptop I get a notification that rcpnetp.exe is infected with a virus. In the begining, I would tell avast! to delete the file, and every time I rebooted the file would be back. Upon futher research, it appears as though this file is a normal file that is placed there by the Lo-jack system. I have added the file to the “Exclusions” list and yet it is still detected every time I boot.

Is there anything else I can do?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Is this file really clean to be put into the Exclusion lists?
Did you test it with www.virustotal.com?

Correction, the file is named RPCNETP.EXE

I am trying to verify it now, but I get the message “0 bytes size received”.

I will reply again once I am able to verify the file.

If you sent this to the chest and are trying to upload it form the chest (this usually results in the 0 byte file size) ?

Create a folder called Suspect in the C:\ drive, e.g. C:\Suspect. Now exclude that folder in the Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add, type (or copy and paste) C:\Suspect* That will stop the standard shield scanning any file you put in that folder. You should now be able to export any file in the chest to this folder and upload it to VirusTotal without avast alerting.
