HOW DO I RE-INSTALL AVAST AFTER STUPIDLY REMOVING IT IN MY CONTROL PANEL?

If removing it you mean add remove programs (uninstall) you could just download the main installation file and install it again, but it would probably be best to do a clean reinstall, see ~~~~ below.

You also don’t say what version of avast 4.8 or 5.0 (free/home or pro version) ?

This assumes you have or want to install avast free 5.0.677
- Download the latest version of avast, 5.0.677 http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_free_eng.exe (English language version) and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again (if you didn't save your last download). Use that when you reinstall. 

- Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear5.exe [url=http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility][b]find it here[/b][/url] and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for both 4.8 and 5.0). 
- 1. Now uninstall avast! (using add remove programs, if you can't do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, first for 4.8 if previously installed and then for 5.0, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.

I bought the Avast4 Professional version last month. I accidently uninstalled it today. I have the license key. I hit the restore button on my computer to go to the previous day and My Avast showed up again but siad that it had expired. I’m now using the free one but how can I get the $ one back?

I would suggest this is probably a good point to upgrade to avast 5 pro as it won’t cost you anything, see ~~~ below.

System restore can have some strange effects and has been see in the past.

You say you are using the free one right now, do you mean avast 5 free ?
If so, getting the license converted you will get an avast 5 license file, license.avastlic (I believe is the name. If you are on-line you should be able to double click that license file and avast should convert the avast 5 free into the Pro version (any problems and it may be best to do a clean install of avast 5 pro, still following the previous procedure), direct download link, see ### below.

You can't directly use your 4.8 license but you can convert it easily. 
- avast! 5 Pro license convert from 4.8 Pro license. Try http://www.avast.com/resend-license.php now, fill in the form giving your email and 4.8 Pro License key and they will send the new license file to you.
