Re Mail Shield

Greetings, I’ve been plagued with my emails sending, but not being received for weeks now. I think I’ve discovered the culprit…Mail Shield. Just disabled it and now all mail getting through. Anyone else ditto?

What exact os/sp ?
What exact version of avast ?
What are you using as mail application ?
Did you perform a repair of avast ?
Did you perform a clean installation ?
Any other security (related) software installed ? (or did you)

Greetings Eddy, sorry for lack of info…I use Windows 7/Windows Live Mail/No Avast repair/No Clean Installation/I also have Malwarebytes and Spywareblaster. I’ve been plagued with email problems, eg showing as “Sent” but not being received for some time. As soon as I unticked the three boxes in Mail Shield all the emails immediately began to be delivered. Mail Shield must have been the culprit.

Ps…I’m using Avast Free.

What mail client are you using ?

Windows Live Mail

Live mail is

NOT
a email client, it is a service.

Starting to-day I also can not receive any e-mail…getting error

OS is XP SP3…Mail Client is Outlook Express…(msimn.exe…6.0.2900.5512)

Avast free version…2015.10.0.2208

If I disable shields I can recieve them…

Mirriam, please start your own thread.

@eddy…Okay…Sorry!

Mirriam’s post seems entirely pertinent to me, it’s entirely relevant to my own post and accurately reflects what I experienced…ergo I feel it’s in the correct place.

There are sufficient differences (OS, email client, etc.) to warrant mirriam4144 having her own topic.

The fact that disabling the mail shield resolves the problem and email works, doesn’t mean both problems are the same.

We don’t even know if you have been receiving errors and if so what - much the same from mirriam4144 what errors, etc. have been received. Having your own individual topic is exclusive to you without having another join it and possibly confuse issues.

Jack, you still haven’t answered several questions.
If you want help, you really need to help us with giving requested information.

No Eddy, ‘Windows Live Mail’ is the email client that comes with Windows 7, albeit one that I’ve never used.
I suspect the problem might have something to do with Security Certificates, or the lack thereof.
‘Options’ > ‘Safety Options’ > ‘Security’ > ‘Secure Mail’ > ’ Digital IDs’ is where the certificate import facility is located.

Windows 7/Avast Free/Windows Live Mail (Sorry Eddy, that’s all I’ve got!)

Found this old thread but it may not help. https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=109673.0
