Looking for a little guidance on renewing my Avast . It expires in 29 days and when I click on " Register Now " it takes me to the box where it gives me an option to upgrade or re-register . When I click on "re-register " (free edition) it goes to the " retrieving information , please wait " box then nothing happens . Am i doing something wrong ? On previous occasions , I just dragged the licence no. etc. and there was no problem . I think the E mail I have with the info re . licence no . is out of date as it was 2008 and it was only in the last few months that I changed it to programme version 5.0594 .Any way , not even getting as far as that . Thanks for any help / advice .

Thank you both for helping , but still can’t get it to proceed any further than the box that says " retrieving information , please wait " . You can see it searching , then nothing . Looks like I may have to start from scratch and do a re-install . Just checked with my daughter and she had no probs on her laptop renewing registration .

If you do a clean re-install, run this in safe mode first…!

Tried everything to re-register , to no avail . Now removed and re-installed Avast , so that’s me o.k till next year 
Don’t know why I had that problem , but thanks to all for help , appreciated .

I think with the free version they have to wait until 14 days before the expiration prior to re-registering, but I would need to verify this.
