Re-Registering Before Expiration Date

Hi, I have Avast home edition and am starting to get the red popup that my current yearly registration is about to expire in 15 days. However, when I go to the registration page, the one option to obtain a new registration key only refers to expired registrations; there is no mention of renewing a subscription. My current one is valid until January.

Should I just request a new key even though my old one is not up yet? Will it create any conflicts with my current copy of Avast, since mine has not yet expired? I’d rather not wait until it runs out without renewing.

Thank you in advance and have a great day!

Sharon

Hi Sharon,

This is fine, all you have to do is visit the registration page, found here:

http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registration.php

And click on:

My registration key has expired, I need a new one

Fill out the form and then you will be sent a new license key, which you can then put into avast!

Right click avast! tray icon → about avast! → license key → copy and paste the key into there.

There is no issue with renewing it a little early, in your case 15 days…this is why you are told about it early…

Actually, in the home version you can “renew” it at any time you like – what the heck, it doesn’t cost anything. Just keep in mind that your new 14-month period will start immediately, rather than being added onto whenever your old one ended.

I don’t think which of the “expired” etc. choices on avast’s registration page that you tick matters, other than for collection of user statistics by Alwil.

What do you do in the situation where you have the trial Pro version and now you want to get the Home version and your trial is about to run out? The red pop up window prompts you to purchase the Pro version. How do I get the Home version?

Also, do I need to uninstall my current trial software, then reinstall, or once I get a Home key insert it? Thanks.

No, when you insert the home key the program changes to home version, if you insert a pro key it changes to pro

Thanks Pondus for clarifying. :-*
