My current avast anti virus runs out on either 08 09 06 or
09 08 06, I don’t know if the date is recorded with the day or month first. Also I wanted to know if I will automattically be reminded to re-register or if I should do it before the time runs out
Right click the avast icon and select about avast!, expand the Registration Key info and the date should be clearer, see image.
In any case it isn’t far away so you could re-register now if you are using the home version, avast! 4 Home Registration.

Your welcome, the home registration period usually gives you 14 months, so that is likely where the extension of your estimate comes from.
