Re Sponsored link for Avast 2007

I came across this sponsored link which is a little concerning trying to push Avast 2007 when it simply does not exist yet. I just wondered if Awil was aware of this site .

Here is the site downloadavast.com

Any comments welcome?

No information available through either SiteAdvisor or Scandoo.
At this point not a place I want to download anything from…

I suggest a forum search for this as there has been something very similar recently, here it is, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=24618.msg201682#msg201682 and this looks exactly like that, very suspect.

Yes, I fully agree with Bob

But it’s very strange this is the second such site that was reported: :stuck_out_tongue:

Any word from Alwil ? ::slight_smile:

EDIT: ops David was faster than me ;D

A similar French site was posted a few days ago

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=24618.0

Could be sinister, but maybe just someone trying to make some money from a free program.

EDIT: Seems like we’ve all been typing at the same time.

Agree totally with BOB not a place to download anything from . I have heard from another user that when you register on site they ask for credit card details which is very suspect ! I would have thought this site would perhaps be closed down due copy right laws maybe someone from Alwil will comment on this .

That’s the one I just posted and it isn’t just French changing the /fr/ to /en/ gives English
download-avast.com/en/index.asp or just going to the default download-avast.com.

So these two are very similar not only in domain name but content and also. There is also a script for cashengines.com and you don’t want to visit these sites without firefox and NoScript. http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/cashengines.com.

So don’t touch with a big stick.

Also have you noticed what happen when you click on “Support” button on http://www.downloadavast.com/ ? ;D

edited as David suggested

Perhaps we should all edit the clickable links to this suspect site, downloadavast.com, the last thing we want is someone to suffer through their inquisitiveness if they aren’t using Firefox and NoScript, etc.

Thanks for the link xistenz
That makes it clearer ;D

Thanks xistenz…
Indeed quite a lot of fraudulent people around :frowning:

This only confirms, get your software at source or from a trusted third party and check everything out before parting with your money. Even if something is given away free, you never know what you might be getting as a gift with it that may cost you dear in the future.
