Real Time Protection issues

The resident protection module doesn’t scan my second HDD, as I can tell in the status menu. How
can I configure it to scan both HDDs on access?

Also, when “scan files on open” is checked, does the resident scanner scall all files if the
extension box has no extensions in it?

and, why is the “block behavior” feature checked, but the none of the actual behavior blockers, like “stop formatting” aren’t?

avast does scan all disks and files on-access by default, i.e., if you do not change the Exclusion lists of it.

All files that are infectable, i.e., the ones that could be infected.

I won’t change the default settings of the block behavior… indeed it’s not for malware nowadays, just for old ones…

If I put the wildcard .??-? (ignore the dash) will Avast scan all files on open? I would like to know what the resident scanner
is actually scanning “on open.”

Well, “all disks” - yes (in the sense that it doesn’t matter where the file is located).
“All files” - certainly no.

There are not so many files that are scanned on-open by default (but rather “on execute”, as set on the first page of Standard Shield configuration; so, if you simply copy the file, it won’t be scanned/detected).
As far as I know, JPEG files are scanned on open (and also OLE files - such as DOC, XLS, etc. - but for them, it’s considered as “on execute”).

Is there a way to scan all files on-access?

Igor, sorry to bother you, just to learn a bit more, what kind of threat can pose JPEG files?
