I’m running XP Home SP 3. It seems that the real time shield do not start for about 1/2 an hour after my computer starts.
Anyone know why this should happen?

To tell the truth, not much idea.
Please advise what version of Avast you use (AIS, free, etc) and the version number.
What AV was in use before Avast was installed, or any time prior?
Any other security programs installed on the computer?
Last but not least, what leads you to believe the shields don’t start for half an hour?
how did you notice that?
I think what he mean is… Avast Ball in system has a yellow mark…
Actually sometimes my other pc has this issues after i update the virus definitions and it takes 5min for completely run the avast web shield and mail shield to run on starting windows.
But its not normal because mostly Upon starting power up button until Windows appear and all my system tray icon run including Avast tray… IT TAKES ONLY LESS THAN 30SECS.
I have posted this complain but Avast team is not responding. And i wanna share this my experience…
I thought repair button fix but its like 50% chance to be repair. Some of my PC resolve by repair but some is not.
All fresh format! only Avast install Protection software.
Like i said avast has still some bugs. Bugs that makes big problem!!!
