real-time shields disabled at start-up

I am running version 5.1.889 on Win 7 64 bit.

I have never installed any other AV programs on this system.

The real-time shields stay off for hours until I turn them on.

I was a afraid this might be a virus infection, so I ran a scan at startup but nothing turned up.

Hmm…

Go to Control Panel > Programs > avast! Antivirus > Tap twice and a new window will appear > Scroll down and select “Repair” option > Reboot and see if the problem resolves.

I logged in as Admnistrator and did that procedure. It literally took two seconds, so I was suspicious that anything happened. Windows also gave me a message saying that the program might not have installed properly.

I restarted the computer and the Real Time Shields were on.

I am concerned that I discovered this by accident; the Avast Icon was hidden from view by Windows 7 even though it had this important message. The system may have compromised for days. There should be a better warning system.

But is everything back to normal again?
Or the problem persists?

Back to normal; based on data from two restarts. Thanks for your help.

You’re welcome.
