Real Time Shields Not Running

My HP xw6000 dual Xeon 3.4Ghz, 4GB RAM, XP Pro with SP3 is reporting that the Real-time shields are OFF. I’ve clicked the Turn On option, nothing happens. I’ve gone into Add / Remove Programs and repaired, still nothing. I’ve updated the virus definitions (version 130308-0) and Program (7.0.1483), I’ve rebooted twice, still showing off. Any suggestions?

There is no 7.0.1483 version, it should be 8.0.1483… seems your installation is somehow corrupted.

Try reinstall of avast. You can backup your settings following this topic:

  1. Download latest avast installer from here:
    http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=117113.0
  2. Download avast uninstall utility (aswClear.exe) from here:
    http://www.avast.com/en-us/uninstall-utility
  3. Uninstall avast from Control-panel.
  4. Boot into SafeMode, use aswClear.exe to remove remnants.
  5. Reboot, then install avast again.
