I know Avast is great at catching viruses but do you think there is a need to run a real time spyware scanner along side of it such as SAS or MBAM? Thanks.
I’m not sure you need to have them real time, but on-demand won’t hurt. You can scan the computer from time to time.
SAS free doesn’t have real time protection, you have to pay for the Pro version, I don’t know if the same is true of the MBAM application.
Personally I don’t have real-time anti-spyware but do a weekly on-demand scan with SAS.
Yep, MBAM is the same as SAS in the free version.
Listen I know SAS and MBAM are free only for on demand. I was asking if I need real time cause spending $19.99 for SAS for life is cheap. I already use both on demand only.
Hi. That is a good price. I don’t know how heavy SAS is on resources.
Real time scanning is another layer of protection. Individual preference I suppose. I must note many anti-malware forums are recommending having a resident scanner.
I am finding that Avast is doing a good job with spyware in real time.
I previously used Spyware Terminator real time along with Avast but it is Avast which caught the spyware so I dropped Spyware Terminator. Now have a much faster system too.
Hi Oldman
good advice
for 19.95 I’d get sunbelt counterspy however W98 support is going away
sigh
Counter Spy is a system hog and $19.99 is only for a year.
I used to install Spywareterminator on real time, but now i use only Super Antispyware on demand and Comodo BOClean on real time wiith AVAST.
I think with AVAST, SAS on demand and common sense, you’ll be free of spyware.
(CBOClean there are a lot of people don’t like it)
