Reappearing BSODs with AVAST and AVG

Situation: Notebook with 2GB RAM and Windows Vista 32bit

First installed AVAST! until following BSODs appeared (more than once):

aswArPot.sys
page fault in non paged area
0x00000050 (0x823A8338,0x00000000,0x8C9C49FA,0x00000000)

Then AVAST was deinstalled an replaced by AVG

The result is the same BSOD …

avgArPot.sys
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
0x00000050 (0xBD0210CF,0x00000000,0x8D168A45,0x00000002)

Configuration of AVAST and AVG is the same; so there must not be big differences between them (besides the name and design)

What’s the problem with them?

Follow instructions and post your file-ID: https://support.avast.com/article/33/

Does this also work with AVG as now AVG is installed (AVAST was deinstalled)?

Or do I have to deinstall AVG and reinstall AVAST?

@Anacunga

As workaround try to disable anti-rootkit monitoring via Settings → Troubleshooting.

@gmer

I had the same problem with Avast (20.3.2405 build 20.3.5200.561) and aswArPot.sys causing BSODs.
I disabled the RootKit checker in Avast and all seemed to return to normal.
I am just worried that now I have left myself open to attack.
What security options can you suggest?
I also have ZoneAlarm Free Firewall (version: 15.6.121.18102) installed and wondered if this had a rootkit checker too, hence causing the clash. If so, I guess I don’t need to do anything.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
