Environment: MacBook with macOS 10.12.1
I am trying to install Avast Mac Security, but I always get an error (see screenshot). All StartUpItems, LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons in /Library, /System/Library and (User)/Library are clean. So there should not be anything left which causes problems.
What are the reasons for showing up this error?

I am having a similar problem. My installation gets all the way to almost the end, then I get this message:
There were errors with the installation. You may want to try installing…
The installation failed.
The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacture for assistance.
I am trying to install on mac laptop OS 10.12.1
According to the screenshot, you are trying to install Avast in a custom location which is not supported.
The dialog does not allow me to select anything. All is greyed out. The MacBook has only one drive so the installation should be a standard installation.
I have installed the Avast for Mac many times and it never showed up this error.
