Reboot Error...?

Hi,

Clutching at straws here…I’m getting that ‘Application failed to start because the window station is shutting down’ message at reboot. Only thing new I have running is Avast. Is it feasible that this could happen if Avast is trying to do the VRDB generate at the time the reboot occurs? I know it seems like a slightly odd question maybe, but wondered if you could shed any light on it…?

Otherwise I’m running two Avast Pro trials on two different machines now and so far I’m impressed…

Thanks.

Can you identify the name of the faulty application?

How did you set VRDB to be generated? If your computer is not with the screen saver running or if you’re not using the keyboard/mouse while shutting down, well VRDB could have being generated at that time but, I think the generation will stop kindly at shutdown time… no errors should occur.

Does the problem is reproducible or it just happened one time?

Unfortunately I can’t quite catch the offending app name, thus my ‘clutching at straws’ question…

The fact that you think it unlikely is good enough for me at the moment. I have a feeling it might actually be something else entirely…am investigating.

Thanks.

Please check the folder \data\log
Are there any files called unpXXXX there (where XXXX is a random number)?
If so, send them to vlk (at) avast.com
They may contain more information about the problem (maybe a link to this thread).

Nope…nothing there. So thanks, that puts Avast out of the loop on this one…
