Reboot in safe mode.

Hello. I read in this forum that to scan the pc it’s better do the scans in safe mode.
I tried using the F8 key during bootut but it doesn’t work. So i generally use the msconfig command using Start → Run

Lately I’m having some issue with MS Antispyware after the scans in safe mode. It gives me some warning about the .dll and Security level after I get back in normal mode.
And to boot in safe mode I select the BOOT.INI → /SAFEBOOT → Minimal and click applay and ok. both spybot and MS Antispyware and WinPatrol detected that msconfig wanted to be added to the startup files. I blocked it. but that’s not the problem.

While I’m rebooting in safe mode I get a screen with two users: one is Administartor and one is a user with my account name. I always run the scans logged as Administartor. And going back in normal mode I get the MS Antispyware warnings.
Two days ago, out of curiosity I tried loggin in safe mode using the account with my name. And going back in normal mode there weren’t any warnings.

I’d like to know if I was making a mistake in the past logging as Administartor. If I want to scan my pc again in safe mode what do I have to choose? The Administrator or the account with my name?

I checked in nomlar mode but in the users screen I can see just my account. I don’t share my pc so I just have an account registered.
Thanks.

Do a right click on the a and select start avast! Antivirus.
Now open the menue and select Schedule Boot time Scan.

I wasn’t actually talking about the boot scan. I do that once a week. I was talking about scanning the pc in safe mode with Avast! and other softwares like Ewido, Spybots and ad-aware.
I just wanted to know if I need to be logged as an administrator to scan the pc in safe mode or if I have to choose my username.
If I’m logged as administrator I see my desktop almost bare. Without all the softwares I installed (for exmaple the icon of Photoshop)
Instead if I’m logged in safe mode as my username I see all the icons.
That’s why i’m asking. Administartor should have the rights for all the services of a pc. I thought that scanning in safemode logged as administrator was better.

Yes it is. Scanning logged as Administrator will give you access to more files (presumely any) in the computer.
But, of course, if you delete a file (needed one, a system file) you’ll have all the power to mess the computer too
