reboot

Hi ,

since I updated my computer with avast 4.7.892 (home edition French version) (xp sp2 / 1 go / zoneAlarm / IE 6.0) , my computer automatiquelly shutdowns and restarts after about 3 seconds max when I use Internet Explorer .

Can anyone help ?

Thank-you !!

Well, does it help if you stop/pause WebShield temporarily? How about ZoneAlarm, does it help to stop it for a while?

  • All the services are running except “outlook exchange”
  • If i pause or stop webshield , no problems
  • If i active webshield , my PC is rebooting as soon as I surf with IE ( it’s go on < 1 min ( often to 2 ou 3 sec))

I do not try again with an another Browser , and i didn’t reinstall avast for the moment .
If this can help , I can post the log of the setup for the day of the 27 september , date of updated , and many reboots

I’m not sure about it , but maybe it is a conflict between avast! & your proxy server.
Try reconfigure it or (worse) disable it. This may solve the problem.

Be safe

JG,
reboot probably means your windows issued a critical stop (blue screen) and that they are configured to automatically restart in such situations. During the blue screen stop, windows should create a memory dump file. It might be either c:\windows\memory.dmp or some files in c:\windows\minidump\ folder.

Please send me a couple of those (zipped) to my email, or upload to our FTP server, (ftp://public.avast.com/incoming).

I’ll look into them with windows debugger and hopefully find the driver which is causing your blue screens.
Lukor.

I have the same problem. I use Avast 4.7.892 and Zone Alarm 6.0.667. No problem with the previous version of Avast. I have not upgraded Zone Alarm yet because many people have problems with the latest version and this version works fine for me.

Without Webshield there’s no problem but when I turn it on I get a reboot if I surf to a web page with the extension jsp or asp.

The problem occurs with Internet Explorer as well as with firefox.

Greetings
