I installed Avast! Last night to see how it was. However, To Make sure my system is secure, it scans it first time (Good Idea.) The Bad part is that It Starts to scan, Goes for 3 seconds scanning “My Recorder” (Came with Android) and crashes and restarts avast!
I’m Using Android 2.2 (It’s a Cheap tablet and I can’t upgrade to 3 or 4 )
hi friend i got the same problem as you, i resolved it by deleting manually cahe files from my sd card, i guess avast get troubles with this kind of files, try to see which files is being scanned when avast crashes and reboot , if its filesd like 454df54d55dgd then you must do what i told you above.good luck!
ok, you can get them the same way i proceded, like i coudln’t find the cache files (here i’m speaking about cahe files reamiang from the apps you uninstall), plug your androphone to your desktop and set it as a flash disk after make a search of these files by puting “.” into search bar you ll find them as a white icons with name like d4gs54g5ddg54 without extention ,
you only must delete them all after that make a new scan and normaly you ll find that avast won’t reboot your phone!!
Well, there is some support for tablets, but still not quite wide; avast should not have any problems with 2.2. Could you please provide the device name or type and OS version (including kernel and type) please?
The scanner can actually scan files in LOST directory or some idle files, so if it keeps restarting it marks some problems and we really should know about them. Sometimes, some strange applications are in conflict with system or application manager and could cause restart of app or whole device; could you please provide us the name of the application “My Recorder”, in best case with link on android market? Thank you very much.
Here is the Device Name: Tabtech M010S (http://amzn.to/vxwbZi)
Kernel: 2.6.32
Build No. V1.5.0
About “My Recorder” All I Could find is this on the About Page:
MyRecorder
Version 1.0.0
Copyright 2011 WonderMedia Tech Inc.
(Note, It is Never Running)
It Does not Appear in the Android Store, And I presume it came with Either ES File Explorer (http://bit.ly/vGryW4) or GO Launcher EX (http://bit.ly/sstMYd)
Or It Came with the Android as I have other Apps Named “My…” Eg. "My Video, My Photo, My Music)
As For The LOST Folder, That is Empty.
I’ll Try Avast! Again and see if there are any changes after A Clean Install.
NOTE: I Uninstalled MyRecorder and it Worked… Except as soon as it finishes scanning Angry Birds, It crashes (About 3 seconds in again)
I Do Believe it scans the First app (Was MyRecorder before I uninstalled it; Now it’s Angry birds) then crashes. Takes about 3-4 Seconds to scan the first app.
sorry to keep you waiting for so long. A few days ago we released virus definitions that should fix the issue with rebooting while scanning the SD card (at least on my phone it did since I was able to reproduce the issue). Could everyone experiencing the issue update to the newest virus definitions and try the SD card scan once again?
I’ve redownloaded Avast! off of the Market… And Still No luck. Same problem.
Android Market says Version 1.0.1473, So I Suppose this Also Includes the Latest Definitions?
If it Doesn’t, I have no way of getting the definitions because I cannot skip the Install Scan.
I went to get the logcat file - Turns out I had uninstalled Avast! (Hence why I couldn’t find it.)
I reinstalled it and it works! Thanks! Don’t know why, But it works.
