Receiving change of sim card messages every time phone is re-set

HTC One XL: got a new sim card on return from overseas and now every time the phone is re-set and and even at other times am getting the phone message Alert. This is good because it is working, but I perhaps did not set Password Recovery because I have no way of opening the Avast app and getting at the settings to tell Avast that this sim is OK and to make it the default.

Is the only answer to uninstall and re-install everything (Avast Secutrity and Anti-theft) ?

Thanks

Its OK now - remembered PIN

so still trouble?

hi,
what if you can’t remember the pin completely.

Hi,

you can restore your PIN using recovery phone number as well as via avast! Account.

Filip

hi, how do i do this.

Login at my.avast.com (if you’ve previously registered at it…).

thank you for this information but still i cannot find my device under devices… :frowning:

Did you connect your device to the account? In AMS it’s Settings-avast! Account.

Filip

i don’t think so because at the moment it is in stealth mode and i can’t access it. and how can i do it using the recovery phone number?

You have to enter AMS/AAT and go to Settings, there you should be able to set up the recovery phone number. When it is done, there will be an option in the password dialog to send a recovery SMS with a temporary access PIN.

Filip

what is the url for AMS/AAT. I think am not getting you.

AMS = avast! Mobile Security, AAT = avast! Anti-Theft

If you have only AAT installed and it’s hidden, you access it by calling your PIN (literally).
You can access AMS the common way by clicking on its icon.

Filip

i have installed AAT but when i try to call it is being disconnected.

seems you’re calling the wrong code… are you sure you remember your PIN (max 6 digits)?

if the code is wrong is there a way i can recover it?

in this case you’ll have to install avast! Mobile Security from Google Play Store and use Password Recovery (if you have defined it in Anti-Theft before). If not, you’ll have to uninstall Anti-Theft and Mobile Security and start over.

I’m not receiving a message but every time my phone reboots or is restarted avast says my phone is lost or stolen and then even after entering the pin correctly kicks me out of my phone settings. I verified this by disabling anti-theft and entering settings and it worked fine. Then upon re-enabling anti-theft it rebooted my phone and said it was lost again. I’ve looked for the option I’ve read a lot of people talk about where you can set a sim as default or whatever but the only thing remotely close I’ve found is where it tells me my imeid number. I’ve noticed my 3g doesn’t come on for a few minutes after my phone starts which I think means my sim card doesn’t load immediately thereby making anti-theft think its been removed when in fact it just hasn’t loaded yet. Is there any way to fix this yet?

If you start avast!, go to Anti-Theft tab, and then click in the upper side settings button you can “clear your SIM list” and set the actual one as the only one whitelisted (approved).
Will it work?

Maybe it’s where it’s a different phone or something but there is no button on the side near the top (upper side correct?). I hit the options touch button on my phone though and there it was. Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction.

you are welcome!
