Recent Update to Version 2014.9.0.2021

Hi

When I logged on to my PC this morning a message appeared that I should Update Avast. I had the option of updating the free version (which I use) and the full version (which is an UPGRADE).

I clicked to update the free version and was suprised to find that after the update my Status shows that I am on a 20 day free trial of the full version.

I carried out a system restore which took me back to my original free version and tried the update again - still it shows I am on a 20 day trial of the full version.

Would someone tell me what is going on here? How do I get back to my free version? Am I doing something wrong when I install this update?

  1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
