Generally I tend to leave the registry alone unless I have an indication something is actually wrong (some will find it hard to know if something is wrong). Whatever reg cleaner you use ensure that it has a backup function so you can restore the registry entries removed should there be a problem.
I have a little app called RegSeeker (fairly old) that I used to run frequently on my XP Pro system (don’t know if it is win10 compatible), but it didn’t find much (certainly not that they were likely to be a problem) so I haven’t used it for some time. I use the portable version so no install.
It seems that it is also compatible up to and including win10 http://www.hoverdesk.net/
I just ran it and considering I haven’t used for some considerable time there weren’t many issues (88), none that I really consider serious, mostly it was ‘File or Path does not exist.’

If you can’t use regedit, don’;t use a program to do it for you.
One wrong move in the registry, you could wind up with a system that will not boot.
Hi Speedy, I still use CCleaner - never had any issues.
I also use Avast Cleanup Premium, but that’s not free.
I might use CCleaner Portable platform instead of installing the slim version, I’m still worried all the yahoo about CCleaner.
If you are still worried about it, why would you use it, you have to be confident about the software you use and what you are using it for.
I would reccommend first using regedit to backup a copy of your registry before any tinkering or cleaning.
Ccleaner gives you the opportunity to backup the registry before your start making changes.
