It is a bug in Avast Secure Browser!

Hi, I forwarded it. Cheers

Also reconfiguration error 1638. Which is why two (1603 and 1638) are reported at a time. 26 such error in one day.

Standard account only seems affected. Administrative account not affected.

Toshiba Satellite L505 Win 10 1709 64-bit. Other system is not affected by this bug.

Thanks Asyn.

I have an Administrative account with this issue.

UPDATE:

  • Issues will cause Windows hard freeze. Issues only occur when ASB is run. Escape is via CTRL+ALT+DEL keys.
  • See attached below for information about crashes.
  • Bank Mode is not available without ASB.

Since ASB/Set point errors cause Windows to crash, ASB has been uninstalled for now.

Note: Google Chrome was installed as an opt-in during installation. Offer to install Logitech Smooth Scrolling addon was accepted at first run in each user account.

Strange, I have ASB set as my default browser have never had any of these problems.

Yes.

It’s a great browser imo. On my other machine, it works well, no issues. ASB worked there right out of the box, and in Bank Mode as well. No reboot needed as reported elsewhere.

BTW, Chrome opt-in install needs to be removed. It’s the only difference between the two machines. Otherwise, software installs are identical. Was sleepy when installing AIS on L505. (How it got by me.)

You’re welcome. But be patient, we won’t get a reply on weekend.

I also do not see this issue using ASB on my systems

I am seeing the same problem, but I am not using ASB.

The other machine turned out to have a corrupted video driver issue. Since Toshiba does not support this laptop any more, (system is too old) all drivers found at their website are older than the current Windows drivers installed for Windows 10. Uninstalling the corrupted video driver and allowing Windows to reinstall the latest video driver fixed the ASB browser issue as well as intermittent video crashes.

Sounds good, thanks for the feedback.

You are welcome.

Any update on this? Really disappointed that dev have not sent out a fix for this yet…

Cheers
