I’m not to familiar with Prevx I haven’t used it for general cleaning as there have in the past been a lot of FPs. So I tend to stick with the more known products MBAM and SAS.
Looks like some of the other stuff which was detected and cleaned up by MBAM ended up in restore points again, though it is very hard to say for sure as some of those file names are different, but the Restore Point (\RP7\ and \RP8) seem to have been flagged again, so possibly there was more than MBAM found.
So it seems that with the multi-application approach has cleaned up quite well. Keep both of those programs, update them and run periodic scan (weekly or fortnightly, etc.) to improve overall detection rate.
I would now suggest that you run a scan with avast if you haven’t already done so, if that comes up clean then it is just a case of monitoring your system for anything out of the ordinary.
Now you really need to get a firewall sorted out to help prevent a recurrence of what happened and that one you tried I haven’t heard of and doesn’t seem to have been up to much.
Many forum users are using these:
- PC Tools Firewall seems to have the least user headaches as it doesn’t seem to be constantly asking the user questions about this and that.
- Online Armor for the most parts fine but it has caused some users grief after avast program updates and that is something you have to watch out for.
- Comodo is now a suite and you have to do a custom install so as not to install the antivirus element (or use the add remove programs to remove the AV element if already installed), of all the firewalls listed this seems to be the noisiest in asking questions, depending on settings and elements used, so it could be daunting for those not to familiar with firewalls or their systems.
