So, for some of you guys, you know my age. Most won’t. However, to say the least I’m in High School. Some people in my class took it upon themselves to delete the entire module of a classmates work and empty the Recycle Bin. I’ve tried to search the hard way with no Admin rights. With no success. I’ve tried Piriforms “Recuva” to test and see if it works in a Virtual Machine. It doesn’t. Does anyone have any ideas on what programs I can try to recover that data? Doesn’t matter whether it needs admin rights as my Tech Teacher has those rights. It’d take the load of the IT department since the ratio of Schools to Techs is 3 Schools to 1 Tech. And they are still patching and fixing the systems that have gone down.
I know for a fact that when you empty the Recycle Bin the file is still there. Is there a way to see if again? I’ve tried taking the ticks out of “Hide Operating System files” and chosen “Show Hidden Files/Folders/Drives”.
I saw LifeHacker. Didn’t know it was Trustworthy. Thank you. Will try them out when I get back to school tomorrow. If it works, we owe you a huge thanks!
Good to know. I’ve tried it on my Home PC (My own, not the family one). Seems to work great. However, we will see the final results on a much worse computer with Network storage. Eeek.
Yeah, I’ve already warned the teacher about that. I’ve asked him to keep kids off that computer and to wait till at least Monday to confirm and everything. Only an hour left till I can try. If that fails, we can try again in 5th Period.
Also, I’ve directed one of our techs in the district to this thread. Hence the name chnage since they don’t know me by “alan1998”. Just in case they want to check out the programs.
Just a side note: The MBAM Beta 2 Public logs are confusing. Sheesh. I posted one to TwinHeadedEagle after accidently infecting myself with a USB Worm (some random VBS file on my J:, meant to see the code, not run the file. Anti-VBS/VBE won’t kill the files though. Stupid Worm won’t bug off.
the one I had tested will not work… I need Admin Rights. And since I can’t get right click it and have a Teacher Authinticate, it won’t work. Tech’s at this point are the only ones that can help. Thanks Bob for the help and the words about Life Hacker
