Red and yellow Avast warning

I have used Avast for years. In the past month I keep getting a red and yellow warning at the bottom of my screen. It says my Avast subscription is running out “click here” to fix it. At the same time i am getting the usual blue Avast notices that my Avast has been updated.

The guy at my local computer store says the red warning is someone from Russia trying to get my credit card number!!

But how on earth can I get rid of that red warning? Every time it pops up I have to click on it to maximize it and then get out of it. Its a darn nuisance.

Can anyone help?

Hi lizwil98, welcome to the forum
Does the popup look like this?

This simply means that you will need to re-register your free subscription.
Go to here: http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registration.php

and click on ‘My registration key has expired, I need a new one’

fill out the form and you should receive a new key by email, which you can input into avast!.

Well is your subscription of avast running out ?
The legit pop-up starts about 21 days before the expiry date, see image.
My assumption is that these checks are carried out when you try to update.

Is this the Home or Pro version of avast ?

Without seeing it, the guy at your computer store is speculating and up to a point so am I as I can’t see it either.

So a screen shot of first the alert (if different to Scott’s) and then the expanded window would be more helpful.

No its EXACTLY like that red and yellow warning. I’ll follow the link and get the new registration code I couldn’t find a free place from the warning.

Thanks.

You’re welcome.

No Problem, glad to help
