Hello.

Avast was working on my system. And now it is not.
I uninstalled and re installed.

I get the following errors when I click Start Avast.

  1. Storage cannot be created for Splash Task
  2. Configuration is not load properly ERR dbs create object
  3. program cannot save paramenters
  4. The operation can not be completed.

Please advise. I like the program.

Are you already using Avast 4.5 beta? If not, upgrade and see if the problem is solved. 4.5 contains many fixes/updates.

  • Program: Already up to date
    (current version 4.1.418)
  • Vps: Already up to date
    (current version 0444-1)

Where do I find the beta version?

I installed the update to the beta.

The same errors exist.

Change storage from ODBC to XML in avast4.ini

You can use RejZor’s AEC to do so, which can be found HERE

The links is working here, a bit slow but working. If you can’t get there, contact RejZor (user of this forum) and ask him for the AEC. Real nice util for Avast users!

You can also do it manually.

  • Open avast4.ini in notepad.
  • Scroll down to the line saying “Database=ODBC”
  • Change ODBC to XML
  • Close the file and save the changes
  • Reboot

Let’s see if this solves it.
