I recently purchased an Avast Pro 5.0 (April 2010). I had made a back up of it on a cd but unfortunately I misplaced it and couldn’t find it. 3 days ago, I had to reformat my laptop and except for the important data that i back up, I lost everything including my Avast Pro 5.0.
I wonder if I could get it back? and how? should I download the free version and activate it using my license code (which unfortunately has expired on May 2010)?
I seriously need help here. Any immediate assistance is greatly appreciated.
You should be able to download the Pro version again and use a valid license file to activate it.
However, you won’t be able to activate any avast free version with an out of date pro key.
What exactly do you mean by it has expired in May 2010 ?
Since avast 5 was only released in late January 2010, if you purchased a license in May then it should be valid until May 2011.
I checked again the mail I received previously when I first bought this product. I mistakenly thought that it was the license file that expired. It was actually the download link. sorry about that

From your expired download link have you been able to obtain the license file ?
