I have installed Avast 5 onto my daughter’s laptop, running Windows 7. It was previously running Avast 4.8, but the registration had expired. Rather than reregister 4.8, I installed 5 and then went through the on-line registration process.
This seemed to work, in that a “registration successful” mesage popped up; however, the Current Status at the top of the Maintenance tab still says “REGISTRATION EXPIRED”. “Fix now” on the Summary tab won’t run, and attempted updates fail with the message “the licence for this product is invalid or expired”. I’ve tried manual input of the licence key, I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but I can’t get rid of this problem.
Thus, I’m left with a Mantenance screen that tells me:
REGISTRATION EXPIRED
Current registration will expire on: 15/03/2011
Date of registration: 15/03/2010
and an antivirus that is not providing any protection.
And if this was a new computer i guess you have uninstalled any antivirus it was delivered with ? before installing avast
and running the removal tool for that program so all traces are gone ?
you can fiend that here http://uninstallers.blogspot.com/
Thanks for the quick and helpful response, unfortunately the problem continues.
Avast seemed to be working fine when in the 30 day trial mode but, as soon as it accepted my registration, the status switched to “REGISTRATION EXPIRED” and I was back where I started.
