Registering my renewal

We have a desktop and a laptop. Using Avast Free on both. I’ve tried to renew a number of times on the laptop(vista)and each time the following box opens THE PARAMETER IS INCORRECT. Never has happen on the desktop.They are on seperate Avast accounts.

If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

If your use for both systems is for Home and non-commercial use then you can use the same key on both, so that would save having to register twice.

Make sure that you aren’t copying a trailing space after the registration key.

Ensure that the system date is correct (day/month/year) and adjust as required.

Thank you for your interest. I did what you said to do.It will not get past the error message. I have the registration number obtained this past June for our other computer but don’t know what to do with it.
The laptop had Avast on it but we had to replace the hardrive 4-5 months ago.I replaced it with no problem. The first time the renewal came up I was faced with this same problem. I simply downloaded it again and registered it anew. Works fine but will not renew.

Try copying the email you received the registration key for the other desktop to a USB or CD and open it in the laptop, try using that key and see if you get past the error. This isn’t one that I have come across before, certainly not related entering the registration key. So there may be something else in the mix.

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

If the above doesn’t resolve it you may need to do a clean reinstall.

Can you explain in a bit more detail what it is that you are doing, leading up to the error ?
