Registering without connection or e-mail?

Just built a new PC for a friend and want to install Avast! (of course - what else) but it’s not connected to the internet and he has no e-mail accounts.
Obviously I can install Avast!, but I’d like to register it (not sure he could manage this) so does it matter if I use his name and my e-mail address?

You can get a key for him and just install it. You can also install the same key on more than one machine. If you have a USB flash drive stick they are ideal to carry around stuff like this.

but only if they are in one household i think…
so i would get a new one for your friend…

That’s what I was planning to do but I’ll have to give my e-mail address.

And yes, almost everything is being transferred via USB stick - I’m tempted to lash up a connection temporarily.

You shouldn’t be registering it for them, because part of the registration is the declaration that the use is for Home and non-commercial use (and both must apply) and you can’t make that declaration for them

The avast for home comes with a demo key, ready to use on 60 days unrestricted trial no need to register immediately, but they must be the ones to register. If you register using your email then you will be sent a copy of the last key you were sent (if it is still in date) to that email address.

The registration is relatively straight forward and you could probably give your friend some help with that, I would assume that they do have an email account and address ?

Yes, OK David. Actually, there’s no way that he’d be using it commercially - I’ll be surprised if he manages much at all ::slight_smile:

I can’t speak for Alwil… but in the case the user does not have an email… why bother giving him a key registered with your email address? ??? Go ahead… Oh, remove all previous antivirus your friend has in his computer

It’s a new build, has no AV yet and is about 100km from where it will be used.

I’ll install Avast and wait until he’s connected.

Go ahead
