Today I did the registration process as required by Avast after 1 year. In the process, it wiped out the Grimefighter program that I paid $20 bucks for. This whole thing is getting annoying - have to uninstall previous version - have to go into safe mode to do it - I’m not sure what’s going on with Avast - I’ve used it for many years and don’t recall all these re-registration requirements so frequently. Also, if re-registration is required, make it a little less cumbersome. Hope my email to tech support gets me my Grimefighter back or I’ll be looking for a refund. Thanks.

GrimeFighter licenses is connected to avast! account and email you used for purchase. If you reinstalled avast! and used different avast! account, then the license might look as lost. Unfortunately this is known issue - there cannot be used 2 different accounts in one avast antivirus - one for my devices, second for GrimeFighter. We are working on a fix.
Please can you open avast! UI | tools | grimeFighter | click Optimize my PC | click already have license | and login with mail you used to purchase GrimeFighter. If you dont have avast! account for this email address, please create avast! account first.

Hi - thanks for quick response. I did just that - opened the tools section - unfortunately, Grimefighter is not listed as one of the options. I believe I used the same email addy when I did do the purchase originally. Thanks for help. Hope we can fix.
Recent action on this issue. This morning I received an email from a Martin Z at my email address. I explained to him that I used Paypal for the purchase of Grimefighter and that Paypal acct has a different email address than the one associated with Avast and that may be causing the problem - I gave him the address associated with Paypal in hopes of straightening this out. I have not heard back from him as yet. I am also wondering why he would use my email address to contact me rather than posting in the forum. Any thoughts?? I’m assuming he is legit as his name is listed as Avast team member. Can someone from Avast team verify please. Thank you.
The following is in response to a personal message from Martin Z who has asked me today if Grimefighter is back on my system after registering.
Please understand - GRIMEFIGHTER is gone! It is no longer part of my UI. It is not listed in tools. It is not in the store. It is gone. Please keep me informed as to your progress on this issue. Thank you. also, since I reinstalled in order to register I now have to do this captcha stuff to respond to your messages. How long does that go on? Another annoying thing.
How long am I going to have to wait for this to be resolved? If not done in a reasonable amount of time, I would like my $20 bucks back! If I don’t receive that, I will uninstall Avast and move on. There ARE other good AV programs out there.

We have some issues on our backend which can impact this. We are working on a fix.
I have already contacted tech support - Jan 29. Have not heard back on that ticket. Martin Z has contacted me via email but does not reference that ticket # so think he is operating outside of tech support area. Also, when I try to check the status of the ticket, I have to do a song & dance requiring filling out a form with email addy etc. When I put my email addy in, it says “Oops that email is already registered” and I cannot complete process. This whole thing is getting SO annoying. Thanks for at least telling me that you are working on it and not asking me if it is on my system after registering. No it is not. Thanks again.
One further thing regarding this annoyance- since you know my email addy and u know the email addy under which I ordered it, why can’t you just put it back on my system. I guess this is too technical for Avast??? I can’t imagine but it seems like a very straightforward process. Thanks.
Don’t know exactly who or what fixed this but this morning when I opened Avast, Grimefighter was BACK!! Hooray for whomever did this. Thanks very much. I’ll quit complaining now. Thanks again, Avast.
I am glad to hear Grimefighter is working for you again and sorry for the delay. I was just going to escalate your issue. Anyway it is a still bug that you have to wait few days to have it appeared. But we already have some solutions how to fix in next program update. Enjoy avast! Martin
