Registration on new PC

Hello all.

I use Avast Pro v4.7, which was registered in November 2006 (key expires on 01-Jan-2008). Personally, I’m very satisfied with the software and will surely renew the key when the time comes. I’m just about to buy a new PC and I would like to know if I can continue using the key I have until the expiry or do I need to apply for a new one and lose 3 months? I won’t be using the old computer anymore.

I wrote to support@avast.com, but haven’t recieved any reply in over a week (checked in spam folder also), and as I could be delivered the PC as soon as today, it’s getting pretty urgent now.

Could anyone please tell me what’s the procedure here?

10x in advance.

Provided it is only installed on the one system you can use it on your new system and remove it from your old one.

Cool. I thought so, but wanted just to make sure. Thank you for such a quick reply.

No problem, welcome to the forums.

Same Question… I have pro version on another computer that crashed… it has been laid to rest.

Bought new Vista machine… so am I correct in thinking that I can install the Pro version on this new machine and then just enter
my Reg. Key #?

Will the Avast program recognize that I have only one computer for this I.P. address?

You’re right. No problem using the key on Vista installation.

@ sweettoothbear
Yes it is OK to use on the new system.

As to recognition, I don’t think they would be looking for this type of transfer of key to another replacement system.

I have no idea what avast does to protect against any piracy but I would guess it should be able to determine if more than one IP is using one Pro license key to update.

Thanks for the quick reply… now can you direct me to where I can read up on removing Norton/Symantec completly from this new machine.

Thanks… stb

No problem the avast forum is usually quick to respond.
You should first use the Add Remove programs to uninstall it.

A link worth looking at, which is a program removal tool that can remove the remnants of a number of different Norton Programs:

Welcome to the forums.

Once again… thanks.
