Registration problem

Hi everyone,

I am using Windows Vista32 Home Edition on an HP laptop.

I downloaded and installed avast!Free AntiVirus 5.0 after reading a good review for it on a web site. However, I am having problems registering the software.

When I click on the registration form through avast!, I enter in all the information for the registration, but the button does not highlight, so I can’t register for it. For some reason I don’t think it is registering my last name. Both the first and last name boxes are red when first opened, but when a letter is typed in the first name box, it goes away. However, whenever I type any number of letters in the last name box, nothing happens and it stays red:

I tried registering for it online through their web site, but I have yet to receive an e-mail. I sent in the registration form last Friday.

Hello,

The reason it’s not registering, is its looking for an Email address, not a Last Name.

Enter your full name in the name field, and a valid email address in the email box, and all should be well. :slight_smile:

I am having the same registration problem today and my installation expires in 8 days - it doesn’t go “highlight” so that I can registration beyond the 30 day trial. I have tried multiple times and have not been sucessful… Help! I’ve done the email address, name, etc. correctly what else could I be doing wrong.

If you did a 30-day trial, then you need to get a Key or Register for a Free, Pro, or AIS version. The lastest version is 5.0.594.

Hello! I have used avast for years, and i have to say…registration in that way doesnt really work! I use offline form to get registration code, and it works. can you anyhow investigate and fix that problem, its really exists…yes, i have also fill all fields properly :slight_smile: Thank you in advance.

To clarify, are you saying that the link I provided http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=459 for on-line and off-line registration…only the off-line registration worked for you?

You need to be connected on the Internet for the on-line registration to work. Could this have been the problem? What firewall do you have and is it preventing Avast from connecting to the Internet?

What version of Avast do you have? Version 5.0.594 is the latest build.

Can you clarify for me: Have you registered off-line and you are all set or you still need help registering? Thank you.

Dont mean to barge in but setting up a friends laptop
with avast and waiting for a key via the e-mail
so I can register his…how long does it take to get into the
inbox? thanks

Like hayc59, I do not mean to barge in but I have the newest Avast on my Vista and downloaded the newest Avast to my dad’s Window XP and registration was so easy, on-line, on both computers. Listen to the experts. Computers scare the **** out of me and all went great with the Pro’s help.

I would recommend doing the on-line registration process, which is immediate registration. As you know, you must be connected to the Internet to do this. Please read my previous post with this link http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=459, which gives you both on-line and off-line ways of registering.
