I’ve got Avast 4 Home.
Recently, I (for an unrelated reson) had to clear my CMOS. When I did so, naturaly, the system time was reset. Upon booting, my system time was set to somewhere in 2000. I should have re-set the clock while in the BIOS, but I forgot to do that.
When I booted into Windows, AVAST warned my that my licence had expired. Now, even though I’ve corected the time to today’s date and the correct time, AVAST still says my licence has expired.
I just built this machine last month, so there’s no way the licence has actualy expired. How do I fix this registratuion error without applying a new key?
Heh… never mind. Fixed it myself.
I just re-entered my registration key and… Viola! valid reg. again.
Thanks anyways. 8)
Well, of course, it’s a home edition, and you entered that address while you already fixed your system time, so there should be no problems. If you registered let’s say on May 5th 2005, and after that you reset your CMOS as well as your system time to let’s say some earlier date like May 1st 2002 or maybe some later date like January 21st 2007, avast! registration will recognize difference in those two dates, and it will alarm you that your registration has expired.
This way, everything is normal… counter continues to work perfectly.
Cheers !
