When I request a new registration number how long is it good for.
I have seen 14 days and 14 months.

If you’re asking about registration for the Home (free) edition, the registration is good for 14 months.
You just need to provide your infomation (name and email), and Avast will send you a registration key.

What the registration actually provides you is 14 month of automatic updates.
Prior to the end of that term you’ll again be asked to register.
It’s one way for Alwil to keep track of how many users they have.
