registry backup

hello

i want to do registry backup before using ccleaner.

anybody plz tell me how to backup registry?

There are simple ways, and automated ways.
The simple way is to create a destination folder somewhere on your hard drive, maybe titled “reg. backups”.
Then click “start>run” and type regedit into the window, then click OK or press enter.
When the registry editor opens, click “file” then “export” and browse for the destination folder, check that “all” is selected down the bottom left, and click OK.
Typically a registry might be 60Mb or more. That should be the approx size of the entry in your new folder. It may be a lot more, especially if you have a lot of software installed, or a bit less.

The automated way is by installing a very nice little program called Erunt. This will automatically copy and save 30 days (adjustable) of registry backups, created every startup.
Some people use this program instead of system restore. It’s good. (And free. ;D)

There’s also an option for that in Ccleaner…!
Look in the settings.

The “best” registry backup/restore tool is the good old ERUNT, in my opinion.

thank u all.

i will try erunt.

if i use ccleaner without doing backup registry, then is there any chances to loose data etc?
and how can i get it back if i done backup registry?

  1. You’re welcome…!
  2. Usually Ccleaner is rather safe, but as already said there’s a setting in Ccleaner to ask for a backup before it changes anything in the registry…!

Well… there is always such possibility. Just make the backup for undo changes.

ok but tried to check seeting in ccleaner but there is no option to backup registry.see screen shot plz.

It’s on the Advanced tab of settings.

ok u mean i have to click restore default settings as u see in screen shot? and after that they registry backup is done.

No, The setting is already checked off. “Show prompt to backup registry issues”
With that option checked, you’ll be prompted to back-up the registry before any changes happen.
